As part of their commitment to providing accurate and timely information about the state of Real Estate in NSW, the Real Estate Institute of NSW (REINSW) tracks and measures the proportion of residential properties vacant and available for rent each month. The REINSW Vacancy Rate Data survey is now in its 17th year, and is a significant source of information for researchers, economists, property managers and agents and housing authorities.

Survey Matters has managed the collection of this data on a monthly basis for the past five years, tracking and comparing vacancy rates across 20 defined regions. This work also includes a reconciliation to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data of residential rental properties, to ensure we obtain a sample that can be relied upon by all of the different stakeholders who use this information.

“I’ve been working with the team at Survey Matters for the past five years. They always deliver the research on time and ensure that the data is correct and statistically valid, even if that means spending hours chasing up non-respondents. What’s more, they are a pleasure to deal with. I’m happy to recommend them to you for your next research project.” Peter Griffin General Manager, Real Estate Institute of New South Wales
